The Reel
The Daiwa Saltist Nero 3000 Spinning Reel

Magseal
Given the popularity of saltwater fishing, reducing water
penetration is a major goal to minimize corrosion, promote longer
life and better performance. Daiwa found a solution – Magseal, this
system greatly reduces the penetration of water inside the body via
the main shaft. Being magnetized this lubrication system avoids any
friction, reduces dust intrusion, eliminates oil spray and improves
reel life expectancy.

ATD
Daiwa’s new drag, ATD implements structural changes to the spool
metal of the reel that provides greater support of the spool across
the entire length of the main shaft. This additional support of the
spool reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even wear of
the drag washers and ultimately reduces “pulsing” of the drag when
fighting the fish. Combined with new improved drag grease that
exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous
immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag startup
inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag
System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

The Rod
From the beginning, a rod needs a solid base and HVF carbon is

3DX
One of Daiwa’s newest blank technologies, 3DX, adds another level
of refinement to Coastal’s already impressive blank performance and
design. This is an innovation in lower blank strength and support,
3DX supports the lower power section of the rod and features a
densely packed three direction carbon fibre weave that distributes
power evenly in all directions, thus allowing the blank to maintain
its form when under load. 3DX increases the power and eliminates
blank twist and collapse, and allows the rod’s power to be located
at the lower section of the rod for more power and less angler
fatigue.

X45
Working seamlessly together is X45, this further eliminates blank
twist and distortion to the whole rod, increasing rod strength,
function, and sensitivity. By eliminating twist and preventing the
blank from losing its round form, X45 and 3DX creates a lighter and
small diameter blank, and a lighter more dynamic rod in the
